April was a busy month for the team: we updated a few of our existing forms to make them even better for users, released brand new forms and were nominated for a Paperless Award…
New and updated forms
During April we released and updated the following public facing forms:
Request a review of the action taken for ongoing incidents of anti-social behaviour

Working with the Neighbourhood and Partnerships Team, we created a form which allows members of the public to start a Community Trigger.
A Community Trigger allows individuals, businesses or community groups to request an anti-social behaviour case review.
The ‘Anti-Social Behaviour: Community Trigger’ form incorporates a new feature for Formation (our purpose built form system) which allows different recipients to receive notification of a new submission depending on the answer supplied. In this case, the area which the member of the public has selected defines which internal team the query is sent to.

Application for the grant or renewal of a firearm and/or shotgun certificate
Residents of Avon and Somerset can now apply or renew their firearms licence online on any device thanks to our ‘Application for the Grant or Renewal of a Firearm and/or Shotgun Certificate’ form.

Previously those wishing to apply for a grant or renewal had to complete and send off a printed form and photographs, alongside a cheque or postal order. Thanks to the new form they can now complete the whole process, including credit or debit card payment and upload a photo for their licence, online.
Since going live in early April, we’ve had over 80 completions, with many on smartphone and tablet devices.
This shift to a digital solution has been positively received both internally and externally:
“Please express my thanks to your team … in making this happen.”
– Licensing Manager at Avon and Somerset Police
“The method seems simpler than the paper based one”
– Member of the public

Special Recognition Award nomination
We have been shortlisted for the ‘Special Recognition Award’ by the Paperless Awards. Our entry focussed on ‘normalising digital behaviour to enhance the customer experience’ by:
- Delivering digital services that offer an equal or better alternative to calling the police control room
- Improving citizen experience through the delivery of digital services to maintain and increase public confidence in local policing
- Collaborating with colleagues in key service delivery channels to digitise outputs.
Winners will be announced in July – we’ll keep you updated!
